Marama Labs Secures €280,000 to Grow its Irish Operations
Marama Labs has obtained €280,000 in funding from Enterprise Ireland to facilitate the growth of its operations in Ireland. This investment is part of a larger €1.75 million seed-plus round spearheaded by The Yield Lab Europe. The funding from Enterprise Ireland has made it possible for the company to establish its Irish headquarters at the DCU Alpha innovation hub in North Dublin.
The new facility in Ireland will complement Marama's development and manufacturing centre in Wellington, New Zealand, serving as a foundation for expanding commercial activities in the life sciences sector. In November, Marama will open an applications laboratory at DCU Alpha, dedicated to advancing applications for its innovative scatter-free absorption technology. This technology will initially address an analytical need in the characterization of nanomedicines, including vaccines developed for SARS-CoV-2.
Dr. Brendan Darby, CEO and Co-Founder of Marama Labs, comments: "Securing investment from Enterprise Ireland as a component of our recent funding round is a milestone we celebrate. Ireland's prominence in the global life sciences sector offers an ideal platform for Marama Labs to extend our commercial reach into the life sciences market of the Northern Hemisphere. I am particularly enthusiastic about collaborating with Enterprise Ireland to enhance our Irish operations and capitalize on Ireland's distinctive life sciences expertise.
Our aim is to lead globally in scientific instrumentation by eliminating bottlenecks in the chemical analysis of liquids, thereby accelerating and reducing the cost of developing products that save lives."
